What's Up Next?
As anyone reading this may know, I'm just one person who operates The Open Theater. This severely limits the amount of media I can intake in a given amount of time. The first day of the site's launch 4 articles were posted as these were pre-written for the launch of the website. I have more of my earlier reviews left out in space but decided not to re-do them as I felt the best way to get a fresh start was to start from the site's launch (so no you won't be seeing a Stranger Things 2 discussion). Today I released my newest review in The Punisher and am really happy with how it came out. That bears the question of though, what can be expected for content in the coming days?
Well I guess the best way to put this is that I don't want to just stick to the formula many blogs follow of just constantly reviewing films. As seen with my discussion of Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, I enjoy talking about films without explicitly looking at them from a highly critical direction. This doesn't mean I will not be reviewing films, of course I will be! That's still going to be the basis of content moving forward along with other articles sprinkled throughout. Maybe I'll even sprinkle in some game discussion! Below, I'll give a listing of upcoming planned articles that can be expected in the coming days. Bare in mind I don't plan to only review extremely current material, I am also a binge-watcher. This means you can expect reviews on some older content. Regardless, here is the upcoming articles:
Murder on the Orient Express - Review
Ensemble films are some of my favorite movies, seeing how a group of high-scale actors and actresses interact and bounce off one another is just quality for the viewer. While this film hasn't been received fantastically, I still believe I can see potential in the given footage. I'll be reviewing this with clear eyes, attempting to avoid the scores I've seen previously.
Update: Posted!
Master of None (Season 1) - Review
Aziz Ansari is a hit or miss actor for me. When I first saw this series I really wasn't interested, but after a long time of putting off watching my usual 3 episode trial I finally committed. I haven't looked back since, but I also haven't felt a strong urge to binge. I will be doing a quick discussion of the first season, and once completing season 2 I may consider a comparison style article on how they compare.
Update: Coming 11/28/17!
The Orville vs. Star Trek: Discovery - Discussion and Comparison
One of the biggest arguments going on with the television community recently is which of these shows really fits better in the Sci-Fi genre popularized by Star Trek. If you're unfamiliar with these two shows you would probably think "Well wouldn't that be Discovery?" I'm sorry to say it isn't that simple and having watched both series up to their current points I believe I have an idea of which series should be preferred for certain aspects. This article will take more time than some of the others so expect it to be a bit farther out.
The CW 2 Night Crossover - Discussion and Review
As has become common place in TV today, the CW-universe will be having it's yearly crossover for all of it's superhero television properties. Having enjoyed last year's Heroes vs. Aliens crossover I am genuinely excited to see where this crossover goes. While I don't expect anything absolutely bonkers to occur I believe it will be some of the best episodes we have gotten from all of these series this season.
The Superhero Mid-Season - Recap
I'm really looking forward to this. I am one who tries to keep up with the majority of the weekly airing superhero television. In this article you can expect discussion on The Gifted, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. While that doesn't seem like many, I have decided I cannot watch Supergirl anymore as the plot just is not exciting in the slightest and putting myself through that would be worthless when I can watch much better television.
Other Upcoming Articles
Anything listed in this area are less developed as they are moving to the top of my watch list, so I can't really discuss anything about these shows but they will be coming soon: Godless - Review, War for the Planet of the Apes - Review, Mudbound - Review, The Disaster Artist - Review.
I don't have a specific schedule for articles going up, as I generally will write them as I finish. I will say that I most likely will try to limit myself to two articles at most daily, so I may have articles finished that will go out later than others as they aren't "mission critical".
Another quick thing I want to point out for any new readers as the site develops: the featured article. This article is of my choosing and once I decide on a day will be a weekly choice of an article that I think people would enjoy reading. I'm also going to try to make sure my site is protected within any legal boundaries and such over the next few weeks as I don't want to get sued over using a picture or something along those lines so there may be a few new pages for those areas (in other words site setup that I put off doing). Otherwise, that's all I have for my first update on The Open Theater!
I know there won't be a large number of people who read this but to anyone who has been checking in I truly appreciate your support and you can expect this to be a major part of my time moving forward. If there's anything you'd like to see an article on, recommend it in the newly added section on the sidebar of any article (like this one!). Have a good day everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!
